Experience travelers like me can quickly become jaded by the cookie cutter, assembly line look and feel of today's hotels. A room is just a bed, staff is cordial because it's their job, sounds and smells are pumped in to create an atmosphere. And then you go to the Omni Royal Orleans Hotel. And you wanderlust, appreciation for the finer things, and spirit are renewed. From the moment you approach the valet, something about the staff is...different. The smiles aren't plastered on. They are actually smiling WITH you. You'll hear them calling guests by name and sharing polite chuckles. Every member, EVERY one from the bell man to the General Manager...greets you. And whether your flight was 12 hours or 1, you relax, just a little. This hotel IS located in a 200 hundred year old building. The architecture and occasional inaccessibility are inherent to the design. But that is part of the beauty. Rooms are small, but luxuriously appointed, with BVLGARI® amenities and Evian water. Rooftop pool features a seasonal bar and access to the fitness center. The absolute best outdoor viewing point of any French Quarter hotel. Do NOT miss a chance to eat at the world famous Rib Room. It would not be uncommon to spot a celebrity among the tables at this former men's only dining venue. The Omni is located in the heart of the French Quarter, and while it faces Bourbon Street, only 20% of the rooms are actually on Bourbon. If you are looking for a quiet space it can easily be found in other rooms. Those planning a special event should not hesitate to take advantage of their various meeting spaces and Grand Ballroom. The Omni Royal New Orleans has impressed this hotel specialist.
